After a brief one-season stint with the New York Jets, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields is being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, according to Adam Schefter.
For the Ohio State product, the start in New York was promising, as Fields and the Jets challenged his former team in Week One. Despite the strong effort against Pittsburgh, the season quickly declined, with Fields and the Jets facing an 0-7 record.
Seeing the lack of success, Jets coach Aaron Glenn turned to Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook at quarterback. With the recent acquisition of former Jets quarterback Geno Smith, it appears Fields is being moved out.
On Monday, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Kansas City Chiefs are acquiring Fields in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round draft pick. Additionally, Kansas City will cover $3 million of the $10 million owed to Fields next season.
The Chiefs will feature a revamped offense, as general manager Brett Veach recently added Super Bowl LX MVP running back Kenneth Walker to the roster. Veach also chose to bring back 36-year-old tight end Travis Kelce, despite media doubts about his future.
Fields started six games with the Steelers in 2024, posting a 4-2 record with five passing touchdowns, five rushing touchdowns, and one interception.
